Artist's Biography

Denise Daffara was born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1968 and arrived in Brisbane in 1988 where she met and married Phillip in June 1990 and they now have two daughters.

From an early age Denise was always drawing and painting and recalls that she was constantly asking her parents for new crayons, pencils and paints. As a teenager, Denise was also influenced by her elder sister Maria a young and talented artist.

Denise describes herself as mainly self-taught following on earlier valued advice from artist and mentor Peter Hales. Creative pursuits of Interior design, ceramics, textiles, mosaics, beaded jewelry were her artistic beginnings. These have now been eclipsed by Denise’s passionate love of painting, which has her working full time as a popular selling artist.

Using both traditional and modern painting techniques Denise’s bubbly personality is reflected in her striking and vibrant artwork. Denise describes her style as ever evolving and seeks to express in her paintings the joys of a feminine life with compositions celebrating simple themes displaying vibrant colour and distinct form.

“Motherhood and friendship are a constant source of inspiration for me” says Denise and “I aim for elegant simplicity in my Artwork”. A recent commission has seen Denise link up with good journalist friend Sarah Schofield and design the front cover for her poetry book “Portraits of Love”.

Denise has completed a number of special commissions and her paintings are now represented in various Australian and overseas collections.
