Detail photos for this Artwork

Coming in for much admiration is this beautifully rendered oil by Robert Pope, “Crossing the Bar at Tweed Heads”.

Robert Pope is known for his attractive oil painting technique that employs a skilful use of blended colour to create atmospherics in the depiction of clouds and water, reminiscent of the style of the great English artist, J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851).

Born in Bendigo in 1939, Robert Pope is a fascinating man who is dually talented as an artist and a scientist. He is passionate about the relationship between art and science and the philosophies of art from Renaissance times.

Robert Pope has had the distinction of supplying two paintings to the private collection of Prince Charles.
