Girl with Cat – SOLD

I’m so excited to have this striking Robert Dickerson pastel to offer!  Pieces by Robert Dickerson that feature cats are highly sought after.

In his girl and cat subjects, Dickerson evokes the love and tenderness between cat and owner. Here we see the cat nestled into the girl enjoying her affection.

Like most of Dickerson’s figurative pieces, the emotive power of eyes is emphasised. In this work the cat has beautiful golden green eyes, much like those of a Burmese.  Often Dickerson’s cats are shown making a direct visual connection with the viewer, conveying their inherent inquisitive and observant nature. 

Clean fine line in the girl’s elegant fingers, in the tips of the cat’s ears, and the lines of the girl’s face, give the piece definition.

The tender moment captured by Dickerson and the neutral hues in this pastel make it a delightful and tranquil work to view.

This large, full sheet pastel is in mint condition and has recently been reframed with acid-free materials and a classic soft-toned silver frame which complements the delicate background colours in the pastel.
