Born in Czechoslovakia in 1953, Joseph Frost’s European heritage and love of classic realism is a strong trait in all his incredibly detailed paintings.

The beauty of light, especially how it moves and sparkles over water is Joseph’s forte. Joseph creates his oil paintings with meticulous care, using very fine strokes, sometimes with brushes as delicate as only one or two hairs.

In this painting Joseph celebrates Sydney Harbour, undeniably one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. He presents the icons of Sydney, the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, bathed in the golden and mauve light of sunset. Gliding over the beautifully dappled water is a tall ship, a romantic echo of Australia’s past.
