The Curious Journey of Minty the Dog – No. 4 / 20 – SOLD

In Elisabeth Lawrence’s latest etching she tells the tale of the re-homing of her much loved dog, a Spoodle called Minty.

In the etching, Minty sits in a boat that takes her on her journey, accompanied by a dingy holding her possessions. On the shoreline, the family’s Siamese cat, bids Minty goodbye with a big sigh of relief, happy about her new life without a dog!

Minty’s re-homing journey entailed many dramas! There was a 1,600 km road trip to Melbourne where she arrived at with all paws bandaged after running mad on Astro Turf the night before. The new owner put her back on a plane two days later. Then the memorable visit to Wendy Whitely, wife of the late acclaimed artist, Brett Whiteley. Minty would have lived in luxury but decided this wasn’t her thing. On another occasion she produced a vomit on the carpet the moment she entered her new owner’s home, something she’d never done! Finally she fell in love with a retired couple and now has the perfect life with long walks, beach and caravan trips, and teenage grandkids to chase.
