At the End of a Long Day – SOLD
Detail photos for this Artwork
Patrick Kilvington is always a popular artist at my Art Studio. I’m delighted to share this beautiful Kilvington oil that depicts stockmen turning for the comforts of home after a long day in the saddle. Born in the UK in 1922 Kilvington moved to Australia in 1950 and developed a strong affection for the people, mateship, and pastimes of characters from regional Australia. Many of his paintings depict men on horseback, either in mustering scenes, competing in horse races, or playing polo.
This oil painting “At the End of a Long Day” is appealing and authentic in is simplicity, showing the camaraderie of stockman, the elegant gait of their hard working horses, and the wide open spaces and big skies they worked under in country Australia. The depiction of space, evoking a sense of freedom, is an especially appealing characteristic of this classic Australian painting.
