Under Southern Stars – SOLD

“Under Southern Stars” is another beautifully detailed watercolour from Felicity Grant’s select Saddle Series, and was inspired by the strikingly clear night skies in western Queensland.

Felicity would often search the skies for familiar constellations in the Milky Way.

In the painting composition, the horse on the bottom right casts its gaze towards the bright stars of the Southern Cross.

The embellishments of Plumbago and Ixora are from Felicity’s garden, and were chosen for their ‘star shaped flowers’ in keeping with the theme of the painting.

The saddle with its stirrup drawn up signifies the end of a day and the calmness of nightfall.
