Detail photos for this Artwork
“Dogs in an Outback Landscape” is a rare, early and interesting oil by Pro Hart. The panting portrays the rich red tones of the earth and the solitude of the outback landscape around Broken Hill where Pro lived for most of his life.
The rich green and bronzed glowing light in the sky and the deliberate lack of people and buildings in the composition evokes a tranquil atmosphere.
If you look closely on the right side of the painting, you’ll see that Pro Hart has included two dogs beneath the trees. There is also another dog at the front of the painting beneath the central tree. Dogs were an important, recurring motif in Pro’s artwork that appear in many of his pieces.
