Tiffany’s Research Notes on “Delight”:

Norman Lindsay’s beautiful and talented wife, Rose was the model for this work, which is faithfully reproduced from the drypoint that Norman Lindsay completed in 1924.

Rose not only modelled for many of Norman Lindsay’s important works of art for 25 years, but she was also solely responsible for printing all of his etchings – a staggering 11,000 prints during her lifetime.

Acknowledged as a statuesque beauty, Rose Lindsay was very important to Norman’s career as she administered and managed all of his business affairs.

Prior to meeting Norman, Rose worked as a professional artist’s model in Sydney and was regarded by many artists as one of the best models of her time, not only because of her beauty but also for her strength as she could sustain a pose for a long period of time.

Original etchings of Delight are represented at the National Galleries of Australia & Victoria, the New England Regional Art Museum & the Mitchell Library in Sydney.
